Brief
The Australian Export Awards are an annual event hosted by Austrade (the Australian Government's trade, investment and education promotion agency). For the 2018 event, I created a variety of print assets for them (co-creators have been credited below where necessary). As well as the printed assets I also created a wide range of digital assets for their social media platforms and art directed a short piece of motion graphics that was shared online. The aim of these events is to celebrate the best Australian exporters and to provide education and support to them.
ABOVE: The finalist pack that all finalists received, the pack included the above confirmation cards and a social media prop. The confirmation cards were designed and created by myself and my colleague at Design:Davey, Emma. The social media prop was created by me.
Having been a digital specialist prior to this meant I didn't often get to see my work physically in the world so this was a really nice project for me. I could see people interacting with a piece of work I had made and sharing it on social media which was a great feeling. The design of the trophy was one of around 12 designs I created but the client really liked this design as it celebrated every finalist and their achievements,
I art directed the short motion piece above. I created a simple storyboard for this piece and worked with our clients to make sure they had a piece they could share socially that was engaging. It was used as an intro to other pieces of video content shared on their social pages as well as other static content I created for them.
In addition to the props sent to the finalists I also created some props for the actual event to be used in the photo booth that guests could use. Below are a selection of images shared on social media.
Conclusion
The pieces I created for Austrade performed really well. The graphics for social boosted interactions and views and helped create conversations between their audience. You can also tell by the photos that the social media props were really warmly received. It was not a requirement for them to post these images to social media so to see people using them as intended and celebrating their achievements was a great feeling. Plus, it's always nice when the client is happy too!
